I know exactly what this song's about because I've experienced something similar... But first, a brief story. I got screwed over (cheated on) my senior year by my then-girlfriend, so to get back at her, I showed up at prom the next week with a new date to match hers, all decked out with a nice tux and simply had a lot of fun, talked to people, cracked a few jokes, and generally enjoyed myself. All the while she proceeded to drive herself nuts with stress about how she looked, glared at me the whole night, got into an argument with her date, and ended up leaving early crying. I'm fairly sure this song is about just -not- letting an ex get the satisfaction of seeing you down and out, just told in a rather dramatic fashion. "I've never looked better, and you can't stand it." really sums it up quite nicely. |
