To me, this song is about a young woman who is trying to find the strength to grow up and overcome the pain that someone (a man, probably, whom she loved) caused her. She knows she cannot trust anyone anymore after her closest person hurt her so much (loves her mom and her dad, the only secure that she know), yet she longs to be strong and to find someone new and be happy, she is lonely and wants to find the strength to move on (but at night she's alone, she's dreaming of somebody new). she needs protection (someone for to hold) and she hopes this person will come along in her life (she's praying the dream will come true) and make her happy and feeling safe again. she seems unsure what is the right thing to do (show me the way) and at the same time is struggling to find the strength to move on (show me the way, help me be brave for love). to her, the world seems like a roller coaster which she is not very comfortable with, but need to accept and adapt to (enbracing the rollercoaster world). this is new to her (stepping outside, body and soul) and she has to learn to accept the things that come in her life (taking whatever future holds). To me, it really feels like a song about a young female who was in a long serious relationship (probably with an older man who gave her a sense of security) but he probably left her and thus broke her heart and her whole world and her lost her sense of security. And she now needs to gather strength despite the pain and go on. it's a really heart-breaking song. the first heartbreak in one's life (for a lot of people this happens in their early and mid 20ties) hurts the most and it is toughest one to deal with. i totally understand her. but the good thing is that one comes out stronger after that and knows how to make better choices in life when it comes to love partners and how to protect himself/herself from being hurt badly. it mostly comes down to control of expectations and how much you trust people. anyway, sorry for the lengthy comment, i really really love this song! |

| I think this song is all about discovering / uncovering your true feelings, which is not always easy (might take a little time, might take a little crime) but once you do, the truth comes out and you "come undone" and then you know who you really love and need and you're in peace with yourself. It's not always easy to admit who you really love and need, even to yourself. | |

To me, it's about a girl who has been "hurt before" and now she is trying to overcome her fears and to start living again (Stepping outside, with body and soul, Taking whatever future holds). This girl is very sensitive, and because she's been badly hurt, she feels alone, but the song is about how she shouldn't feel alone (You're not alone... ), she should know that we've all been hurt before, so she should gather herself, face her fears, and start living again without fear. It's part of growing up - being hurt and learning how to overcome the pain and go on. | |

Very touching song, makes me cry... To me, this song is about not giving up (despite age, time passing, etc), it's about believing (I know I know...) and about being strong (You feel so weak, be strong, Stay on, stay on). Life has parted two people who love each other (Stay on my love) but who believe they will be together again some day, on Earth or in Heaven. |

To me, this song is about the confusion and lack of direction you feel when someone who's been part of your life and who has made you very happy disappears and is no longer part of your life. You feel lost and "you don't have a clue what to do", but still have accepted it and are not looking at it through dark glasses, you appreciate what this person has given you although they are no longer with you (Still lucky for me, You're amazing, You made me see Sparks come blazing). I like that this song is not negative or sad, it is about how you feel after a break-up, but also about accepting it and appreciating what you had. |

Such a heart-breaking song, especially if you're looking at it from the female perspective. To me, it's about a break up that isn't mutual. He is leaving his girlfriend, whom he once loved and who still loves him, to be with another person ('I think she knows bout me and you'). She is devastated, hopeless (she cries a hole in the ground). He is feeling bad, too ("this can't be right", "and I feel like such a creep") about the pain he is causing, but he is determined that he is leaving. ("'cos I'm leaving on the 1 am, by soon I'm out of sight") It's interesting that he says "she knows about me and YOU", as if the song is sung to his new love. So maybe the song is also about making his new love realize how much pain he had to cause in order for them to be together, and how difficult it is getting over the guilt. Or maybe it's about how although we tent to think how love lasts forever, it does not. I hate and love this song at the same time. Very few other songs have such a huge effect on me like this one, it does make me feel really sad. |
