Elisa – Dancing Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song, and so I have to say that it WAS NOT written by Paul Humphreys and Andy McCluskey. Believe me, I checked...search them on youtube. You will find that their band's song titled "Dancing" IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, TERRIBLE, AMBIENT 80s SONG. This song was written by Elisa, please change it!

Arcade Fire – Can't Let Go of You Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is about a couple leaving their hometown to live somewhere else and bear/raise their child. They have to leave everything behind and let go of everything if they can ever start their future. Unfortunately, they aren't able to do that and symbolically as well as maybe literally, the wife has a miscarriage. In the last verse the part where it says "she's already a pillar of salt" may refer to the story of Lot's Wife from the bible, who disobeyed the orders of angels who were destroying her home city while she was leaving it. They told her that she could not look back at the city while it was being burned but she did anyways, and turned into a pillar of salt. This could mean that once the miscarriage occurred, the woman in the song regretted ever leaving home.

MGMT – Destrokk Lyrics 15 years ago
i think this song about the relationship between the upcoming generation and the parents/government officials/etc. the older people are warning them that life is hard and that they're better off being ignorant, passive although they are punished for this at the same time. it's about the contradiction in what adults want from the youth.

the line "you say 'hey' you get against the wall/yeah you get against the wall" sounds like someone's getting arrested. this along with the ritalin part shows how parents/police don't know how to deal with kids besides drugging them up or locking them away. it also sounds like they're trying to justify their motives in "it's just the way you talk to loud" and "it's just the way the city smells"

"you are soft and we are hard/ you don't desire to step to our fire" could be interpreted as adult's opinion that their kids haven't grown to be assertive/aggressive like they are and don't want to carry on many of their mindsets/traditions, which makes them angry because they don't see it as realistic.

i think "we love you in glacial ways" means that parents/society care about its youth but shows it by slowly covering them up/suffocating them.

Stars – Dead Hearts Lyrics 15 years ago
i think this song is about two lovers telling each other about their past boyfriends/girlfriends, and learning to accept that the other was at one point in love with all of those people.
