Great song. I don't think this is a coming of age song or a song about the difference of age. "I went to pick up the parts, The doctor's hiding the charts, He won't let me see this side of you." I think this is a song about alcohol abuse or drug use ("Drink the poison lightly") FOR someone who is just starting down that dark path ('Cause there are deeper and darker things than you.") FROM someone who has been there and does not want to see this person hurt like he was ("I know 'cause I've been there too.") This is when it starts, From the beating of your heart Till the streetlamps talk to you. Jumping off of the edge, Oversleeping your head, Everything's turning dark to you.
