NOFX – Don't Call Me White Lyrics 11 years ago
As far as I can tell, theres a lot of ways to interpret exactly what Fat Mike is singing about, but I think the main theme of acceptance, and not stereotyping/categorising is pretty well accepted for the song.

However, not being from America and knowing the social environment (I'm Aussie) I've always wondered which of these two interpretations is more correct:

1 - The lyrics should be taken literally:
The song is pointing out that white people have racism against them too, and it is not fair to assume all white people are capitalists and "part of some conspiracy". Essentially that racism works both ways.

2 - The lyrics are comparative, and used to demonstrate how racism feels:
The song uses the fact that being white is generally not a platform for racism to point how how wrong it is, making the comparison "does this mean I have to take such shit for being fair skinned, no" and making the point that other races could just as easily stereotype whites (as capitalists, racists etc) but they don't.

La Dispute – A Broken Jar Lyrics 13 years ago
I think you're spot on about the broken jar symbolism.
Thats the part of the song that really stuck with me, and i think for sure that its about a relationship that he knows he broke, but wishes he could fix

Rise Against – Architects Lyrics 14 years ago
Read my reply below, I saw the link too and believe its a reply to "I Was a Teenage Anarchist" even the way Tim sings that section sounds more like Against Me! than the rest of the song

Rise Against – Architects Lyrics 14 years ago
Am I the only one who see's a connection with Against Me! in this song?

I assume those who would read this would be familiar with Against Me! and their selling out, after being one of the great punk bands of all time, an "Icon" in punk rock

"Our heroes, our icons have mellowed with age.
Following rules that they once disobeyed.
They're now being lead when they used to lead the way"

That quote very much sums up the transformation of Against Me!
The undeniable connection to Against Me! in this song is the lyrics:

"Don't you remember when you were young, and you wanted to set the world on fire?
Somewhere deep down, I know you do.
And don't you remember when we were young, and we wanted to set the world on fire?
'Cause I still am, and I still do."

That lyric provides an undeniable connection, becuase in the new (extremely pop) Against Me! album the first single released was titled "I Was A Teenage Anarchist" and it essentialy argues that punk rock is a lie, in that song the lyrics "Don't you remember when you were young and you wanted to set the world on fire" exist, a quick google search will identify that there is no other signifigance of those lyrics, and it would be a great coincidence that a punk band and ex-punk icons would both use the same lyrics in new songs, In my opinion Architects is Tim's reply to Tom's question and attempt to convince more people to move from anarchism to capitalism
