I think this song is about fighting his inner demons of his past of his abusive father and how it comes to haunts him in his adult life time to time. Its more of a remembrance of his life as a child.

you realize that the writer believes in God including bible right? I really doubt that he'd right a song that says leave of the authority of God and live life your own way or saying that God is getting rid of your free will. It would be a contradiction. I mean that won't make any sense. "in fine print" could mean anything not specifically the bible. when song writers refers to the bible its usually written as "The good book". Fine print most likely refers to something hidden and most people won't notice at all. And I really don't see how you got all that from just "When nothing is owed, deserved or expected" |
