sup? i bet this song is about how a lot of stuff happens that we just sleep off, don't worry about, don't care about, etc... "this life goes lullaby out of here"- we sleep through life "smile shows filtered sounds of fear"- after we deal with what we fear we truly experience happiness "back into it goes through the trial you can't hear"- this could go two ways, either people don't notice how this happens, or Crisci is making this personal by saying one person he is struggling with fails to deal with their issue or something like that. that's just my thoughts. :) tyler |

jacob stands on snakes. and finds his life in shame. they will make their plea. trust in the disease. one last drop of pain. the fighting's all in vain. one last antidote. forgotten ties on severed ropes. jacob stands on nails. forgot the news in jail. they knew a cause was born. in a shroud of myth and glory. and grasping tight, the ropes. hanging them from poles. someone saw the light. and brought his bow string tight. and aimed it at the heart. of my beloved. there are definitely lines missing in the lyrics so this is what i thought they were. Jordan: could be alcoholism, i think it could be a lot of things though. "jacob stands on snakes" snake is like the devil, meaning any temptation a person might have. forgotten ties and severed ropes- probably things a person loses due to their addiction/sins/temptations whatever you want to call it. somehow they overcome, but then relapse hence the description of shooting an arrow through the heart of the light that was so beloved. it could be that the ropes that resembled broken relationships/things lost when you screw up in life are actually what caused him to relapse (hodling tight the ropes, hanging them from poles- means a bow and arrow made from the ropes that were severed) I love how the whole album just floats from one song to the next. Here's my take. It's definitely spiritual to me. All games they play Undead and awake and returning within (sinning, the world/our cultures causing us to not be who we really are.) You are a devil they say, and it's candy (the temptation of it all is like candy.) How long I've known this seed burst and grown (the hardships we take on in life and how we get past them) You're the one that I love You are the one that I trust (God helping us get through the struggles) And it's candy (the relationship with God that grows stronger after a hardship is like candy) here it seems to me it kind of switches like whereas the first part Jermemy is talking to God, now it's what Jeremy believes God is saying back to him. When they speak of the open door (they as in the ones who let the world get to them and don't live life as they are called by God to do) And the way you've flown it's fine (When THEY speak positively about the gifts God gives it's fine.) When they show me the evidence (THEM saying God doesn't exist...) And they're talking down your memory (talking down all the moments in life when we've seen God working and we knew it was real.) Nevermind the words they waste They can't see you're mine (forget about the negative things, they just don't realize how amazing God is yet.) Waiting here until words run out (eveuntually THEY will run out of evidence and also realize who they are called to be and see how amazing God is.) Dreaming of the day when you open your arms In the light of our love (Eventually those that remain faithful to God and live their lives for him will be blessed with the light of his love and through Jesus gain a spot in heaven.) So basically not letting our culture and the world change who we are so we can "fit in", or "be cool" etc... and living our life for who we really are and using the strengths we have in life to make the world a better place. yes? |
