I think I'd have to agree. But I also think that the meaning sort of changes throughout the song. In the beginning, like you said, he wants to live a real life, and not a life like in the movies. Towards the middle he saying he wants someone to be with him, "I wish the wind would bring me someone so I wasn't so alone." He says he's taken to that timeless zone, and I think that's his dream world, "With a six-string in my hand. And my feet buried in the sand. I couldn't say a dream could get much better." And at the end, he realizes he's not in this dream world of his, "'till you realize you're not there." This is when he opens his eyes and realizes his dream world isn't true. I'm probably way off, though |
