Seven Mary Three – Each Little Mystery Lyrics 15 years ago
So here's what it means to me:

In every relationship, there comes a point where you wonder, "Is this as good as it gets." Sometimes you walk away. Sometimes you stick around. More often than not, you never say a word about what you're feeling. Thus:

Each little mystery is safe in your heart
you've got to wonder, is moving on the best that you can do?
Need to have a little conversation
Find the truth behind the questions that are haunting you

In this song, the man sits there mulling all of this over in silence as the woman he loves is content just to be with him as they drive down the road. The line, "I looked through the box for cigarettes, maps, keys. There's so much room in here you can put your feet straight out the dash," is him looking for an excuse to walk away because he feels like there's this impossible distance between them. But, as she touches them, he's reminded that there are these incredible feelings that she stirs within him and he starts to think that maybe this is exactly where he needs to be.

"She rests her hand along the space
between my neckline and my back
I can feel her fingers runnin' through the feelings
I didn't think I had. Like
maybe this road we're on
is the very thing that's come between us
maybe it's the highway
to the very place that might just save us"

Ultimately, what moves me about this song is how it beautifully illustrates a problem that occurs in most relationships. If people would just talk to each other, they might just find that they're happy.
