This always seemed, to me, about a couple in love as young people, and then the man walks into some nameless small town when he's like eighty, and recognizes his first love again but is afraid to say anything to her, and she recognizes him as well but due to being trapped in her small life, she doesn't say anything.
It's a bit like my grandmother...married 50 years, then my grandfather died. Two years later, she runs into the boy she knew when she was 16 who she dumped to date my grandfather. They are now married. |

Well, I hate the MCR version as well, but the fact is that Misfits had to give them permission to cover the song. I wouldn't jump to conclusions and say they hate the MCR version. Remember, Misfits isn't Glenn...I'd imagine he hates the cover. It was probably Jerry that gave them permission to use it. |

Right, there are no covers as good as the originals. Non of the covers are even decent, in my opinion, save one. That's The Lemonheads version of "Skulls," done acoustically. It's pretty fucking great, actually. Check it on youtube. |

Sure, the name comes from the movie, but I don't think the song is about the movie, per say. Nothing in the song really fits with the movie, other than there being a killer referred to as an "astro zombie."
There's no crazy scientist or alien waving his hand and sending any sort of army of zombies or anything. The mad scientist in the movie isn't trying to destroy humanity, either. |
