I am here to clear up the meaning of the beginning of the 4th verse. Biden Bellows are not both capitalized, only Biden is. Biden as in Joe Biden, and bellows as in the actual word, bellows. While he doesn't pause, if you were to re-read this line it would be Biden bellows, said what up to the reaper. Several of Joe Biden's family members have died, and thus hes saying hello to the grim reaper. Now, what does hello high water mean? Hell or high water is a phrase that didn't come from anything, it just means any great difficulty or obstacle. What I believe Lupe is semi-using 0this, as he says Hell(o)r high water, which I believe means he is welcoming anything that gets in his way. The thing about this is, he is also saying hell-met like riddel. Riddells helmets are waterproof obviously, so hes saying he welcomes the rain, the obstacles, ANYTHING that gets in his way. These two lines are SO incredible, and to just decipher them takes much difficulty. Hes using hello high water as both rain and as the old saying which I explained above. Okay, now for the next verse. What the hell does it mean? I put it on my grandmama’s daughter I microphone control with a soul of a slave humming “Wadin’ in the Water” I author, like D.W., brother like a hustler God place me in your armor, I prescribe no partners I do it for the hood like a parka Will tell my niggas not to shiver, only time we quiver like an archer is Wade in the Water was said to contain lyrics which told fugitive slaves how to avoid capture and the route to take to make their way to freedom, and thus Lupe controls the mic (which he does) with the soul of a slave just thinking about that song, about freedom, about how to avoid capture. (theres another song called wade in the water about baptism as well) The way he says "author" is extremely important. He says it so it kind of sounds like arthur, kind of sounds like author. Lupe is an author in a way, except he writes songs, however his songs are like a book in that they tell stories, etc, D.W. is the name of ARthur's sister in the show Arthur, a kids TV show. Then, arthur is D.W.'s brother, and a brotha like a hustla (explain this in a second) God place me in your armour, hes talking about King Arthur. He prescribes no partners - A hustler doesnt need any partners, just like a king doesn't either. Then I do this for the hood like a Parka. Self explanatory. He's doing it for the actual hood, but he does it for the hood like a parka. Parka's have very warm, fuzzy hoods. Tell my niggas not to shiver, only time we quiver like an archer is- This is really obvious as well, but still ingenious. Archers wear quivers on their backs, etc. cause we only fear god, know the weapons of the weak, and the weakness of the hard, and we will never sleep So, now that ive explained the most complicated parts of this song, lets go over what the above line means, and what this song is really about. This could possibly be about The Cool himself, about how hard he is. While it shows no DIRECT relation to him, it could be about him, which directly relates to the fact that its about people in the hood. He's saying he only fears god, he knows that the weak have weapons, and he knows the weaknesses of the people who are hard. And we will never sleep. He's basically just saying that he's never got his guard down, hes only scared of god, he knows everybodys weaknesses, and that no problem or person could ever get in his way. Here we are now entertain us Change don’t change us, ever since the game trained us We came up, like worms in the rain I dreamed my chain became a loose noose that was used to hang us So now, my insane brain, my thirty-two teeth and two feet creep like it’s Elm Street Cause This is where The Cool & The Game & The Streets come in. Basically Lupe is saying that hes finally here (this could mean literally in a place, or here as in hes made it here in the music industry) I see "entertain us" tying in with the next line. Change don't change us, ever since THE GAME (The game trained us, think Put you on Game), so give us something. Entertain us. The above line also ties in with We came up like worms in the rain. The game trained them and so they came up. He dreamed that he was being hung, so now hes insane. He's corrupt, hes lost, hes a gangbanger who is lost within the drug dealing violence and gang worship. Here he is. Lupes not my top 100, my top 50, my top 10, my top 5 even. Hes #1 in my books, this is why, THIS right here, is the reason. |

Let me start by saying that I don't really know why Snoop is in this song, but.. I believe that the chorus, Gather round go ahead and stare These street folk don't need permission, my life's in high definition Listen with your eyes follow with your ears I don't need no intermission my life's in high definition is saying that you can feel free to follow Lupe, listen to what he does, etc. He doesn't need no intermission because he is already real. I think he's saying that you shouldn't be trying to follow or listen to unreal artists like Lil Wayne or Gucci Mane. High definition looks more "real" than regular TV. If your life is in high definition, your more real than regular TV (hes above regular artists) |
