Haste the Day – Crush Resistance Lyrics 15 years ago
This song sort of confused me. It sounds like it's a battle cry for demons or those who would attack Christians. It talks about devouring those who chose the 'narrow path' who are 'white as the morning'. It also talk about wolves dressing in sheeps clothing I think when it says to 'wring the blood from your fur' and 'dress for the banquet'.

I was hoping that at the end of this song it would describe Christ's victory over them, like what Oh Sleeper did with Song of the Morning/The Finisher. Anyone else have an interpretation, maybe the meaning or perspective of the chorus?

As I Lay Dying – Vacancy Lyrics 15 years ago
Ya, I think you're right. The vacancy is God in our life, and we'll "take everything this world can offer" to try to fill it, when what we really need is a "new foundation".

We live our lives and base our societies on the concept of freedom, and in so doing neglect religion because of the restrictions that come with it. Yet by doing this, we fall victim to our own "impulses" and "consumption" and end up losing the freedom that we avoided God to gain.

My favorite line is "But what is control once we have let go of all we suffer?". I think it's saying "what's the point of gaining control over our lives if we could instead let go of all that makes us suffer?" AKA neglecting God is search of freedom and becoming addicted to the ways of the world.

As I Lay Dying – Anger And Apathy Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that this song is talking less about the people being witnessed to and more about the people doing the witnessing.

He's saying that most people can see the evil in the world, but don't care enough to do anything about it or assume that they can't change anything. He says that we should burn inside with anger against injustices or we'll never get anything done. And the chorus is rallying believers to show their "feelings of discontent".

I love how he says that he'd rather face "glaring opposition" than someone who doesn't care. Awesome.

Katatonia – New Night Lyrics 15 years ago
Where are all the comments on Katatonia songs? I know they're tough to decipher, but the more opinions the better!

Anyhow, this one is pretty straight forward I think. The person in the song is on their deathbed talking to a beloved one who has already passed on. I think the first four lines describe the person questioning whether or not the afterlife exists, saying he has forgotten the pledge (of his religion) and is uncertain if his heart will go on.

Ok time for someone to figure out Liberation, GO!
