I think the general meaning is about someone facing reality or 'growing up', as shown in the music video (the little girl running around). Someone has been living there life in a very safe manner, protected by other people, living there own little fantasy, but then something hits them, and they are forced to face reality/grow up. "Forgotten the taste and smell Of the world that she's left behind" --The girl has pretty much forgotten what the real world is like, so she isn't prepared to face it. "Keep your feet on the ground When your head's in the clouds" --I think I'm wrong with this, but my interpretation is that you need to have fun in life, but you need to remember reality, and not just drift away. "Well, go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole To bury the castle, bury the castle" --The castle meaning her fantasy world that she spent so much time creating, and the girl having to face reality and quickly/completely forget about what she used to have and the effort she put into it. |

I love Breathe Carolina <3 Best band everr :) I think the song is about a girl who is extremely insecure. She cuts herself, and uses a lot of makeup because she thinks she is so ugly (hide in your eyes, this brush just doesn't feel right?). She dresses differently, and makes herself a completely different person to please other people in her life. Of course, she does a good job at hiding this, and no one knows the pain she puts herself through just to impress other people, but generally, she lives a very miserable life. Just my interpretation. |
