Absolutely love this song. It perfectly describes that little space between the rock and the hard place. When work sucks, or you're going through a bad breakup, having money problems, and you feel like you've got no one you can depend on or turn to. To me, it describes that that feeling of not being able to possibly handle the things that life is throwing at you. The only solution is to pack up your bags and leave everything behind. You know it's not logical solution to your problems, but it's the only thing that provides you with hope. Sometimes, when you're feeling down, the prospect of starting a new life somewhere far far away is so appealing... "Like on a holiday, but for longer - away from all the silly things that harm us" UGH. lyrical perfection.. |

My interpretation of the first verse: Look what we've gotten ourselves into From your heart to your lips, I'm trouble for you You laugh and push me off of you Before losing restraint and giving in I'm not asking you for anything Except to treat me like a big girl We've got nothing to lose Except for our lives that we've left on the side And he still loves me. I just love you a little bit more. He still loves me... I just love you a little bit more. And it goes on, but I suck at translating it lol - I just didn't want to do a super literal translation because then it sort of loses the poetry of it. Anyways, the song is definitely about having an affair. The girl is cheating on her boyfriend with another guy. It seems like in the beginning the two of them are flirting and start to fool around - the guy tries to stop her, but they are just crazy for each other and can't hold back their feelings. She is conflicted because her boyfriend still loves her. My favourite line of the song is definitely when she adds "Et malgré ça" - which basically means "And despite the fact", which I just think is really powerful. Like "Despite the fact that he still loves me, I just love you a little bit more" It's like she is reluctantly disregarding what she knows to be the truth. No idea if there are any SATC fans here but it totally reminds me of when Carrie cheats on Aidan with Big. |
