i think it's sweet how simple this is. like, all our lives everyone is telling us to go to college, get a job, be something. and so many kids these days are locked into that mindset. then here's a song with the only lyrics "you don't have to go to college." maybe not even necessarily literally college, but moreover what everyone expects of you. be yourself, you don't have to do anything. |

yeah these are definitely live lyrics. i think they're a bit more manageable than the album version's, honestly. from this i gather that "clothes" are a metaphor for the social masks we wear which allow us to converse with other people regularly. they're not always true to our personality, so they're more of a superficial representation of our intentions, literally similar to clothes. "taste," however, refers to our basic reactions to eachother and ideas, dictated by that "secret place deep inside," or our unchanging personality. and then "when we exchange important views you get a glimpse of me i get a glimpse of you" i believe is illustrating how intelligent exchange of ideas outside of social norms and expectations is alot like seeing someone "naked" or outside of their social clothing. idk about the rose part though, that's a toss up. maybe because they look good but they're insubstantial to taste? |
