The only problem I have with the suicide interpretation, though personally I do think it does make a lot of sense, is that Eli was buried in a church yard. Back in the day if a person committed suicide that was a grave sin and they would be banned from being buried in a church yard because of it, especially because he was poor and his family wouldn't have been able to pay for the church to overlook it. Colin is pretty historically accurate, so I don't think that he would allow that to be overlooked. |

I know some people have mentioned that the narrator may be a girl, but I find that unlikely because of the line "I'm your brother's sworn enemy." Therefore its hard to imagine the brother's sworn enemy would be a girl, especially since this is a feud amongst the entire family. And remember, its the same brother who does the shooting, so I'm quite sure the narrator is male. |
