Every time I hear this part of the song my stomach aches and churns at the thought of feeling this. |

I agree with your interpretation @smdhoesss... This song is also my favorite on the album. Real Estate truly are masters of capturing and making you feel that nostalgia. It's so depressingly beautiful! Of course being a native of New Jersey myself probably helps amplify it a little hah |

"Your kiss it could put creases in the road" should probably be "Your kiss it could put creases in the rain" that's what it sounds like to me and it goes with the rhyme scheme of the first verse. |

Just to clarify, I should mention that "shake the hands of fate" also pretty obviously refers to attempting to take your own life. "Hit the breaks, hit the glass, time to shake the hands of fate" sounds like our 20 year old is intentionally crashing his car... Pretty blatant suicidal overtone in that phrase. First verse and chorus explain the kid's suicide attempt, second verse explains how he will realize how lucky he is to have survived and stop wasting his life believing that there's nothing else out there than the "only dream that he was sold." |

This song was pretty clearly about an attempted suicide to me from the first listen, I don't know why some people on here can't see how that's insinuated. "For his next monthly installment he's gonna go out with a bang"? That's premeditated, the car crash was no "accident". I think the story here is of a kid who couldn't find the meaning in life and tried to crash his "luxury sedan" to end it. He doesn't die of course and instead has a near-death experience, which causes him to realize how he's been wasting his life when he wakes up in intensive care. The last part of the song is asking if you ever felt like he did before his suicide attempt and warning you not to take the same risk.
Really great song, awesome way to end the album. Billy Talent II is my favorite, and I think the band as a whole is highly underrated... Just my thoughts! |

I definitely agree with "boring and plain"
This song is pretty self explanatory.... I love it, dark like some of the stuff on FIOE which is my favorite album despite what anyone says. It's a song I think most people can relate to at one time or another and it's put in such simple yet elegant terms. Angles does not disappoint, I'm ashamed that I was ever worried in the first place |
