I actually liked the song before I knew the lyrics and came to look them up because I could only understand the last two lines haha. I think they match pretty well because this song is all fast paced and it kind of goes with his feelings, he's like excited just to know this person. I think the feeling of the song is almost exactly how you feel when you first meet someone you really like and you see their name on your incoming call or something and get all excited. |

This song is about anorexia. I noticed with the "taking bites out of her insides" ad the "hollow shell." Also the part about the "cotton cloak," which seems to be about another disorder that anorexics usually have which is body dysmorphic disorder and people with this disorder start wearing larger clothes because they think they look fat and are typically uncomfortable looking in mirrors because they see themselves this way, which came to mind while I was listening to this song and heard the part "to see her own reflection was like squinting in the sun."
Another thing with people who have anorexia is that they usually start when they feel they have lost control and that point for the person in this song could have been the situation with her parents.
I think he is basically telling the story of what made her this way, especially with the part "drew her gaze towards the sky, away from her own mind." She didn't realize what was happening to her. Very sad song :( |

I thought pretty much the same thing but a different scenario. Like, I would imagine it as her leaving on tour possibly and moving on ("walking on") from someone who is possibly holding her back even though she loves that person. |
