Kris Allen – The Truth Lyrics 15 years ago
This song says so much to me - it describes what happened between my ex-boyfriend and I.

The couple is still together in the song even though it's painful for them.

"It's the elephant in the room
And we pretend that we don't see it
It's an avalanche that looms above our heads
And we don't believe it" - They know that they have problems in their relationship but it's easier not to bring it up. Something will happen to make it crash on them, but they don't want to look at it.

Trying to be perfect, trying not to let you
Honesty is honestly the hardest thing for me right now
While the floors underneath our feet are crumbling
The walls we built together tumbling
I still stand here, holding up the roof
'Cause it's easier than telling the truth - He really doesn't want to hurt her, but their relationship is falling down even though they don't want to admit it. Perhaps he cheated on her and doesn't know what to say about it. It's easier to maintain the status quo than end everything because part of him still wants them to be together.

I still keep your photographs
I remember how we used to laugh
I can't keep on losing sleep
If you're ok with being torn in half - They really cared for each other at one point in time, and he can't keep feeling tormented about what's going on when she's upset with their relationship. Maybe she knows he cheated and didn't say anything. She's hurting and he feels guilty and he doesn't want to go on like this.

Stop ignoring that our hearts are mourning
And let the rain come in
Stop pretending that it's not ending
And let the end begin - Pretty self explanatory.

I think this song has a lot of emotion, because still caring for someone at the end of a relationship even after you've been through turmoil has to be one of the hardest things to get over.
