I think it's about a guy (Ryan) really liking a girl (Z) who already has a boyfriend. He knows the boyfriend is cheating but she doesn't know: "You're not what he's thinking of/ When he's with the other girl" He can't believe anyone would feel the need to have another girl when they already have her: "Don't have much to say right now/ 'Cause I'm trying to figure out/ Why he's with the other girl" The chorus is the part of the song that is the most open to interpretation. I see it as the guy telling the girl, but she doesn't believe it and he doesn't push the subject, or the guy not telling the girl because he knows it would hurt her. "You, you were right/ I was wrong/ Like I always am and you always are" (A lot of songs on The Like's (Z's band) new album, Release Me, are about a cheating boyfriend.) |
