Broken Bells – The High Road Lyrics 15 years ago
The song, to me, is someone pondering the meaningless of life, and questioning if we really do exist and are really alive. Questioning reality. The line "I don't know if I'm dead or not, to anyone." and later "I don't know if you're dead or not, to anyone" He doesn't know if he exists, or if reality is different depending on the person or the way they perceive reality. He doesn't know if the other people he sees exists or not either, if he exists. Or he doesn't exist, yet everyone else does and any interactions with anyone else is not real.

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics 15 years ago
I always imagined it being about the Ocean and underwater, or about echoes in time (i.e. memories). Rumor has it that Pink Floyd was asked to score the movie Space Odyssey 2001 by Stanley Kubrick, but Pink Floyd had a terrible experience scoring a French Film that they turned him down. Once they saw the movie they immediately regretted turning down the project, and recorded Echoes to be played in sync with the final scene of the movie. I have the video saved on my computer of the final scene played with Echoes as the audio, and the song helped me understand the meaning of the end of the movie. Anyways back to the idea that it could be about the Ocean. The Ocean is reflected across the sky (where the sky's blue color comes from) and the long Whale solo (the high pitched whine like noises are actually Whales talking to each other) not to mention the many references to oceanic things, such as submarine, sand, waves, coral caves, etc. Maybe it's just the first part, maybe it's just comparing something to the Ocean, but I really don't think it's about God. Maybe it's comparing how memories sort of ping into your head seemingly from somewhere deep and dark, like your digging it out from deep inside your memory (your memory here is like the ocean) and then they disappear again, like an echo. Also think of how sound travels and underwater, think of sonar. Thats what I get from this song anyways.

Freelance Whales – Generator ^ First Floor Lyrics 15 years ago
Awesome song, personally I get the images of an old barn-like house, along with fields and woods. Reminds me of nature and old mechanical things, like old steam engines too.

I love the plethora of sounds in this song too, the chanting, xylophone, banjo, tambourine, and a bunch of other percussive instruments, along with the cranking like noise in the beginning that plays in the back throughout the song.
