| Evelyn Evelyn – Evelyn Evelyn Lyrics | 15 years ago |

The last line Amanda Palmer sings before repeating Evelyn Evelyn isn't "God, can't you just get a loan" it's actually "God, can't we just get along?" |

Actually, line 20 is "It's not an enviable PLOT," not "lot" |

| The Dresden Dolls – Half Jack Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I understand how one could view the song as being about a hemaphrodite, but in the section of The Dresden Dolls Companion on this song, Amanda completely explains that because her parents broke up not long after she was born, and never felt like her father cared about her, she thought they broke up because of her birth, and she's hated her father for most of her life with this in mind. | |
| Emilie Autumn – Castle Down Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I very much agree with Ladylunacy, that the song is a plea to God, asking why he didn't help when she needed her. However, Castle Down was originally released on the album By The Sword, which was Emilie's musical tribute to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I think that this song isn't meant to represent the loss from the point of view of only one person, but a plea from the entire country, asking why God allowed this to happen (I'm not saying God made it happen, not at all, I'm just saying that's my view on the song) |

| I honestly don't know very much about that era of history, but this song almost immediately reminded me of Marie Antionette as well. Most likely due to the beheaded line. | |
| Emilie Autumn – Gothic Lolita Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The song is about a young girl who was sexually abused and has grown up emotionless and dead inside as a result, hence the line "I've been dead a thousand years and lived only two or three", indicating that she was very young when it happened, and because of it, the remainder of her life has felt like a thousand years. It's also indicated in the line "The kind of murder where nobody dies". Emilie stated in an interview with Bazzarre magazine in early 2010 that she had been sexually abused from the age of -if I recall correctly- 6 years old and onwards, though she gave no indication of who did it to her. She also stated on her forum, when recording this song that it was one of the hardest songs she's ever had to record. I think that this song is based on her own pesonal experiences, and is named after the book Lolita by Vladamir Nabokov because of the similarities to her own life. As far as the japanese subculture of dressing up as a little girl goes: what do you think Lolita fashion was named after?? |
