| Lucero – Cass Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I wrote a small article about the meaning behind this song here: http://rockgeni.us/2012/01/25/lucero-cass/ As w33ps mentions, this story was inspired by Bukowski's "The Most Beautiful Woman in Town", which at the same time was inspired by Jane, one of Bukowski's wives. |

| Protest the Hero – No Stars Over Bethlehem Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Sputnik has a great review about the album explaining not only parts of this song but how it fits with the entire concept at http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=5627 I posted another article compiling some of the information here with some findings of my own at http://rockgeni.us/2010/07/13/no-stars-over-bethlehem-by-protest-the-hero/ . Useless tip: A lot of the music on this album was inspired by Between the Buried and Me's Alaska from 2005. |

| Blind Guardian – The Soulforged Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Some of you might remember this song from BG's poll in 2001 asking the users which themes they'd like to read about, there was a heated discussion over covering Dragonlance since the band was already associated with fantasy themes like LOTR and people wanted to see something new. Some of the snippets that have not been mentioned yet: * "And from the flames // As chance would have it // The Soulforged will come into light" probably refers to the fact that Raistlin survived a fireball during his Test of High Sorcery thanks to his golden skin (magic armor) provided by the pact he made with Fistandantilus. * "I'm on my way to find back to the peace of mind" - Raistlin finally finds peace of mind once he leaves the Abyss and joins the RIver of Souls with his brother Caramon. * "Stillborn but you're still alive" - Raistlin's mother though of discarding him (killing him) when he was born since he was too small and weak but Kitara, his half sister, saved him and took care of him during his first years. She'd take care of him again a couple of years later when his mother died and Raistlin went into a catatonic state. I wrote an entry at RockGenius detailing a couple more facts about the story: http://rockgeni.us/2010/06/22/the-soulforged-by-blind-guardian/ |

| The Mars Volta – Conjugal Burns Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Although the penis ripping through the very fabric of time would've made this song the "best song ever", I think it definitely stands on its own as the best song in Bedlam. A Flash game called "Goliath the Soothsayer" was released with the album and can be found in: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/422645 Jeremy Robert Johnson also wrote about the story behind the album in his "Descent into Bedlam", it's probably the best resource about the Bedlam in Goliath http://www.jeremyrobertjohnson.com/TMVDIB.pdf Finally, I wrote my own entry in RockGenius about the song based on some of the comments here (mainly Marinas' great explanation): http://rockgeni.us/2010/06/16/conjugal-burns-by-the-mars-volta/ |

| Propagandhi – Potemkin City Limits Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is probably my favorite Propagandhi song and I've done a bit more of research at RockGenius(http://rockgeni.us/2010/06/19/potemkin-city-limits-by-propagandhi/). The final: And there’s a statue that the abattoir erected To remind us all of their contributions To me it marks Potemkin City Limits This Francis cast in bronze Is just epic and defines Propagandhi as band, their ideals and everything they stand for. |
