I think it's about a guy who had a good relationship with a girl. One time, he did something terribly wrong, I guess cheating on her or the like, so they broke up. But the guy regrets this so much, because now he realised what he lost due to his own fault. So he uses this song as a last resort to get her back by letting her know he's sorry.
