I don't think that it is about a break-up... That's just not Adam's style. I think it is just about how it sounds... He goes away for long periods of time, and can't wait until he returns to see his girlfriend/friend. It is saying that he loves her very much, and can't wait to return to see her again. And through parts of the song he's remembering times that he has had with her, and that just leads him back to how much he misses her and want's to see her again. I'm not saying that is what it is about, that's just the picture that I get every time i hear this song. It's one of my favorite's by Adam Young =) |

This is a really cute song. I think my favorite description was from invisiboy42293, who said, "...the rest sounds a lot like Adam's standard quirky love ballad." Totally right. And I don't really see any bitter lines. The idea is that when you think of birds, worms go with them naturally, and that was sort of the idea. They were meant to go together. Bird and worm. Peanut butter and jelly. Bread and butter. So yeah. Hehe I love this song SO much! SO CUTE (and quirky, but hey, thats the best part =) and one of the reasons we all love Adam) ;) |

Ummm... No it hasn't. Because it's crazy how far off that was. I hope you weren't being serious with that. Cause it's almost sad how far off it was. If you knew anything about Owl City and Adam Young, you wouldn't have even started that review/analyze of "Hot Air Balloon." The "singer." Adam Young, IS reminiscing of his past and pretending, and it has not a drop of blood involved. Did you not have a childhood to compare this happy, cheerful, song to? Well either way, readers, this review isn't true. So stick with the first. |

I love this song SO much. Adam Young has an amazing voice, amazing creativity, and is a brilliant song writer. Its so hard to find innocent songs these days, so he is like a breath of fresh air for everyone. "Hot Air Balloon" is by far my favorite. It is so up-beat and happy, and reminds me of when I was younger and played pretend. It can really take you back =) |
