The Rumble Strips – Cowboy Lyrics 15 years ago
Haha a very fun song to listen to.

The song (I think ofcourse) talks about attempting to quit cigarettes.

It really does feel like nothing is really pleasing you around town when you give up cigarettes. Nothing is as fun as it used to be... and even though you have good health-- you really just want to say f*** it and smoke another one.

The second verse talks about looking into a pond that he might have looked into during a cigarette break before, and now the picture is not the same anymore... because he doesn't have one.

The "eye that doesn't cry" is a cigarette cherry that looks back at him in his reflection.

"But that book that I flicked through
It seems like it was writ by you"

Talks about the book of matches that was needed to light cigarettes. And when the book is over/complete, that means that the pack of cigarettes are gone (20).

And lastly...

"I walked around to your house
And I rang your front door bell
Well I had my fill of breathing, honey
Take me back to hell!"

He walks to a place where they sell cigarettes... he's tired of being able to breath well and be healthy, and wants to smoke again... effectively going back to hell (because cigarettes just make you feel like crap).

Japandroids – I Quit Girls Lyrics 15 years ago
A catchy song. The limited lyrics actually add to the feel of the music.

I feel that this song has nothing to do with even getting the girl that he's talking about.

The girl being sung about is one of those beautiful girls that don't really fit the mold anymore-

"She wears white six days a week" - while it could mean literally wearing white, I feel that this means that she doesn't wear what all the other typical beautiful people wear (not to be judgmental). This makes her stand out from the rest of the crowd... The reason why I think this is because I see people at shows that I go to where I just can't help but think "God... she is so amazingly beautiful because she's not like everyone else". Also... the white could also mean that she's not a bad person... she's actually very nice and upbeat. What can I say... "she was just one of those girls..."

"And if you're lucky... on the seventh day she'll wear nothing"- this part is extremely straightforward. I think we all know what this means, but the question is: was he lucky?

The tone and feel of the song makes me think much differently of the meaning of this song than him being lucky and getting the beautiful girl.

Japandroids – Younger Us Lyrics 15 years ago
A very fast and fun song to listen to.

The song is pretty straight forward.

The song looks back to times passed when people were young and free. Simply no cares or worries.

I can imagine the song about two very young lovers (15-18) and how they had the "us against the world" mentality, and how they really believed they could win.

Then time passes and, as it happened with me personally, this attitude of "we'll sleep when we're dead" leaves when being hit with the "real world" like going to college, thinking of the future and all the things that really erase that "young and free" mentality that most young people have.

The song is sang from the perspective of someone who is already in the phase of "damn, looks like we can't really take on the world and be free forever", and they're screaming their wishes for those times when they thought those good feelings of staying up late, being in love, and taking on the world "would never end".

A very good, catchy song from the JPNDRD duo.
