Fydolla Ho – Believe Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's about someone who passed away, and the singer misses them so much, that they would rather literally be haunted by them then to be alone without them. And ironically, in a way, such intense mourning really is like being haunted. You see them everywhere, remember them all the time...great lyrics. Simple but deep :D

Lacuna Coil – When A Dead Man Walks Lyrics 15 years ago
To me, this song is simply about a man who's lost everything, yet still goes on living anyway. "When a dead man walks" meaning when a man who is dead inside continues to live. To me, the cage is metaphorical, like the man is caged in his memories and/or caged in his sorrow.

Eminem – Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) Lyrics 15 years ago
My interpretation is more the literal kind. Not that he'll kill her realistically, but that he thinks it might really come to that because of the abusive nature of the relationship so far. He acknowledges it as a possibilty. He seems too desperate to be with her to admit that their relationship would ever be destroyed. Based on the rest of the lyrics in the song, I kind of take it at face value for what it is.

If it wasn't Eminem, I might not, but because it IS Eminem...I don't know, it just seems to be his style to be more literal than one might assume coming from another artist.

But your interpretation is very valid of course. Good for you for thinking outside the box.

Eminem – Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) Lyrics 15 years ago
What I love about his song is how it acknowledges that they both have serious mental issues. Usually if a man hits a woman, the song is all about what a sick man he is, how dare you hit a woman, etc. And it is VERY wrong. But there is something just as sick and distrubing about a woman who stays in a relationship like that. I'm NOT saying she deserves it, I'm just saying that the woman is as screwed up as he is in the head, and I'm glad this song seems to acknowledge it, when most of the time the victim's emotional instabily is glossed over or overlooked completely.

Leave it to Eminem to speak the truth. :D I also love the ending. How he admits he's lying, he know he won't change. He's lying and he thinks he might kill her if she tries to leave him again. I love how the end of the song he talks about how he'll "set this place on fire" and then suddenly Rihanna's lyrics that have been symbolic (burn meaning hurt) becomes literal, as in kind of hinting that he's so sick he would watch her burn if she did leave him. The song goes from sad to kinda morbid and shocking at the end- very much Eminiem's style. I love it.

I think it's interesting Rihanna did this song based on her own life experience of being an abuse victim. Good for her to face what happened and not be afraid to use it in her songs. Most of the songs I've heard from her on the radio are pretty shallow, just dance songs to listen to in the club really. I'm glad she did something much deeper.

Great song overall. Many touching parts. Music video is pretty good too.

Eminem – Stan Lyrics 15 years ago
Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Dido and Eminem...never would have thought the combination would work so well, but it really does...Dido's part just becomes more and more creepy as the song progresses due to the dark subject matter of Eminem's lyrics.

Eminem – Stan Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the literal meaning of this is song is obvious. Perhaps there is a little subtle message that Eminem is trying to say that the stuff he says in this lyrics about wanting to hurt himself and others shouldn't be taken seriously, and if you do take it seriously, you're fucking insane, just like Stan. I honestly think the entire song is about Eminem trying to express that not everything he says should be taken as gospel. The fact that in the end he lets his "1# fan" down, and thus inadvertantly causes his death, is kind of like symbolically Eminem is trying to say, "I'm just human like everyone else! I make mistakes! Don't worship me or take what I say seriously!" Perhaps as an emotional response to this incredible amount of fame and perhaps as a response to all the hate he seems to get from parents convinced he's brainwashing their kids. (I don't think the message is to the parents, I think it's to the kids. In the music video, the "Mom" of Stan looks at the boy and it looks like she's trying to convince the 6 year old not to follow in Stan's footsteps...I'm not sure, but it seems like she's probably cursing out Stan and Eminem and telling the boy not to be like them).

The irony at the end, that Eminem actually does reply back to Stan in the end, makes me think...maybe he's trying to say, "I'm human, I make mistakes, but I always try to come through for my fans."

It's definately one of Eminem's best songs.

Eminem – Kim Lyrics 15 years ago
Yes, the song is dark and morbid, but that's the kind of music I and a lot of people like to listen to sometimes. I understand that it's not for everyone, but it's fucking Eminem, what do you expect? People who say they hate this song have a right to their opinion, but if you don't like this kind of music, then you should know just from Eminem's reputation that you should not to listen to his music. Anyway, I prefer his darker songs like this one and "Stan", which I personally think are probably his two greatest songs, more than his more shallow songs (like "Ass Like That" for instance). I like that Eminem is willing to explore the ugly side of relationships and isn't afraid to put real people and sometimes real events and/or fantasties he's had into his songs. There's a real honesty in this song. You can sense that seething repressed anger. I like that raw emotion- you don't see that in a lot of modern music, especially in this genre. And it's so catchy too, despite how raw and open it is.

I will say that I'm glad Eminem found an outlet for all his anger, but I don't think he'd be a homicidal maniac like some people seem to think if he hadn't found a way to let out his anger through his music. Or maybe he would. There is a fine like between madness and brillance after all. I think this song is brillant. Both the words and the music. The chorus is really catchy and pretty much explains how he's feeling and what he's thinking. "Bitch you did me so wrong, but I don't want to go on without you."

3 hoorays for fucked up dysfuctional relationships!!!

Lynyrd Skynyrd – That Smell Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's pretty obvious this song is about drug/alcohol addiction. I think it's about how drugs kill and how it's not worth it to risk overdosing, to risk dying, just to get high.

"Say you'll be all right come tomorrow
But tomorrow might not be here for you"

"Just one more fix, Lord might do the trick
One hell of a price for you to get your kicks"

I'd also like to add I love the way he says
"Stick them needles in your arm"

I love this song. I think it's their best song. I love the line "The smell of death surrounds you". It's just a really deep song.

The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics 15 years ago
"There's a club, if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home, and you cry
And you want to die"

To me it's just about someone who's really shy and doesn't know how to meet that significant other they want so badly. They played this song in the movie "Closer" when Clive Owen is going to a stripclub and eventually that night he tells Natalie Portman's character (that he barely knows) that he "loves her. Loves everything about her that hurts." To me it's just about someone seeking love so badly and perhaps in the wrong way, like Clive Owen's character looking for love in a strip club, and being very hopeless and frustrated that it's not working out.

That song fits that scene so perfectly. :D

Bayside – Devotion and Desire Lyrics 15 years ago
As I understand it, the chorus basically says that the girl toyed with his emotions and wasn't ready for a serious commitment like he was. "You're not ready, Everything you said were lies about devotion and desire"

The second chorus is about how he's feeling vulnerable now that he realizes his significant other didn't reciprocate his feelings and/or wasn't mature enough for a serious relationship.

"My darling, I'm taking my life back, to start healing"

He finally left her and is moving on with his life so he can start healing.

This is a great song. I actually don't know which version I like more, the acostic version really gives his voice a chance to shine, but I like the other version too. The music video is pretty cool too, even though to me it doesn't really fit with the song.
