Not sure of exact meaning as of yet, but the two references I can pick up are: The Title (Org. Titled That Hideous Strength, but the That was dropped in final pressing) Is a C.S. Lewis Book, the third in a trilogy of his. The Last Line('Let mine eyes not fail with looking upward') Is taken from Isaiah 3¸Œ¤14 ('..mine eyes fail with looking upward...') |

it's not C.S. Lewis, ee cummings. Org. Poem is as follows. but if a living dance upon dead minds why,it is love;but at the earliest spear of sun perfectly should disappear moon's utmost magic,or stones speak or one name control more incredible splendor than our merely universe, love's also there: and being here imprisoned, tortured here love everywhere exploding maims and blinds (but surely does not forget, perish, sleep cannot be photographed, measured;disdains the trivial labelling of punctual brains... -Who wields a poem huger than the grave? from only Whom shall time no refuge keep though all the weird worlds must be opened? )Love |

| Besambar is close....I just looked into it some more, and this song is a 'retelling' of sorts of Proverbs Nine. Direct Quotations from it are... Proverbs 9.17- "Stolen Water is Sweet...depths of the grave". Basically, the proverb is about *I think*. Wisdom, a woman, has built her house up top of the highest point of the city, and is preaching what true wisdom is. Folly, another woman, is sitting at the doorway of her house and calls and tells to eat stolen water and food, but really her guests are in the depths of the grave. | |

| Hate to burst your bubble, but while Thrice is not a christian band(proclaims the name of Christ in the music), The writer of the lyrics, Dustin, IS a huge follower, and his struggles with it are dealt in the lyrics. What makes it not Christian rock is the fact that it's just part of his life, and he deals with his life with lyrics, instead of using the music as a way of worship | |

| Thrice – Deadbolt Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Deadbolt is the rather vivid discription of a reaccuring dream, it seems. The Narrator(Dustin, I assume) is falling in and out of sleep at the wheel, and everytime he closes his eyes he's at the same doorway. A girl offers him water, and he knows he shouldn't, but he does anyways. His true love tells him to stop, but he just can't, and later regrets it, to probably just go through the same dream again | |
