| I totally agree with lespaulsmith sounds about right! I would only add that it seems to me that the phrase "It's just the bones you're made of" is extremely important to the song. It is accepting the flaws of that "friend" (for a lack of a better term) and still loving that person unconditionally. "Always honey, always near" because he accepts him/her as he/she is. | |

This lyric is very straight forward and easy to get if you are a true fan. This means having read Anthony's autobiography which shares the name with this song. Scar Tissue. Scar tissue that I wish you saw (The scar tissue here means his account of life that he intends to share with the world. Probably the first time he thought he wanted to share his stories with everyone in this song. Years later with the help of Larry Sloman he wrote a whole book, but he began with a song.) Sarcastic mister know it all (This is a reference to Anthony himself. In the book he constantly talks about himself as a control freak wanting things to go his own way. My best guess to the sarcastic part is how he used to be hard on the people he loved. An example, when John Frucsiante joined the band he was young and both Anthony and flea loved him, but they gave them a hard time because they loved him and that was the way they dealed with love.) Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause With the birds I'll share With the birds I'll share This lonely view With the birds I'll share This lonely view (I would consider this to be literal as saying close your eyes and imagine/picture what I'm about to tell (Anthony's story) and he considers the story to be as wonderful as a kiss. My guess is birds are used to represent us, the audience, the people listening to the song. Why lonely? because it was no fairy tale where the only problem was finding Cindirella, there is some real hard core stuff and strong emotions happening in his story.) He was so desperate that he was "falling all over himself". Lick her heart as erotic as it might sound means to get to know her deeply, to share a connection, and then he say that he wants to make love to her as well "taste your health". Blood loss in a bathroom stall Sounthern girl with a scarlet drawl (Must have been another adventure with a girl. I saw someone pointing out that he fucked a virgin in a bathroom could be possible, but i don' know the real story, doesn't ring a bell from what i read in the book, maybe I don't remember or he doesn't mention it.) Step outside but not to brawl Autumn's sweet we call it fall I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl (Talking about himself saying that he became a singer not because he wanted to be a celebrity - to brawl - but because he is passionate about doing music. Then that he will succeed in doing good music. Success for Anthony is not money but making good music and that people have a good time and enjoy and feel passionate about music.) That is the way I see this song. If you have read the book you will probably see I'm right. I highly recommend the book to everyone,it is an amazing story. |

| Right it seems pretty straight foreward and self explanatory, but what if the song is an extended metaphor of drugs.Therefore drugs are being personified by a woman, but you can interpret it any way you want! The name of the song though I find no relationship what so ever | |
