| @[timmuz:5928] I think this interpretation is right-on. "Tracks" = track marks = heroin addiction. | |

| There's no "s" sound, though. And do they have Wendy's in the UK? | |

The original liner notes (which are not infallible) got this line wrong: "He thinks he's educated, airs those family shares Will protect him" For a variety of reasons that makes no sense (how does one "air shares"?). A simple fix straightens it out: "He thinks his educated airs, those family shares Will protect him" He, incorrectly, thinks that his educated airs and those family shares will protect him. He's deluded. |

| Yeah..."catheter" is ridiculous. I hope you weren't being serious. | |
| Gavin DeGraw – Young Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |

"You're a young woman cast aside I should side, left on the side walk of my lonely life" No. It's "Ostracized," not "I should side." It's in the CD liner notes, jeez. |

| Gavin DeGraw – Meaning Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Before coming here I thought the chorus said "We're given love." I sort of prefer that. The "givin' love" version has a direct object (love) without the expected indirect object (to whom the love is given), and therefore feels incomplete. | |
| Katy Perry – Simple Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| That's just a reference. It's about someone who's caught up in trying to be cool, and misses out on the simple things in life. | |
| Katy Perry – Hummingbird Heartbeat Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Does anyone know what she's singing in the background (or extra vocal track--whatever the term) from ~2:52 to 2:57? | |

What about the beings that are across, over, or beyond human? Why can't *they* too be the narrator? Please. |

I have no doubt that it's "ocean." "It takes an ocean," while rarely used, is an expression. Doves used it ("it takes an ocean of trust") in "Kingdom of Rust" in '09. Google turns up phrases like "it takes an ocean of people," "...emotion," "...lies" and so on. The meaning would be, "it takes an enormous amount of [fill in the blank] not to break." That makes sense. "It takes a notion" also exists, but it doesn't mean "take a strong belief." It's more like "get the idea to" or "casually decide to." Also, the "it" here, unlike the "it" in "it takes an ocean" (or "it takes all kinds," or "it takes two") requires an antecedent, and I don't see one. |

Assuming anybody is still reading this... I can't believe only person sort of picked up on the drug slang. "Black beauty" is an old ('60s-'70s) slang term for speed. "White horse" is heroin, but everyone knows (or should know) that one. |

For the "extra super very" part, I've seen this elsewhere, and it sounds right: "It's the year, oh oh, extra super very" |
