Brandon Flowers – Right Behind You Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this song! I can't get it out of my head. It's like straight out of the Book of Revelation.

To me, it sounds like "And if you get blind, well that's alright" and "When you touch the stone."

And I'm pretty sure "I break your word over me" is just "Break your word, over me." I see it as him singing from God's perspective and "I break.." wouldn't really make sense.

Brandon Flowers – Hard Enough (feat. Jenny Lewis) Lyrics 15 years ago
It starts out "You let me into your life on a whim and there was magic and fire in the night"
And I think it says "In loving I was just a little boy"

"When we spread my dreams at your feet
Let's not let times build the flood rise"

Should be "Let me spread my dreams at your feet/Let's not let time's bitter flood rise"

And the chorus ends with "Been telling myself that I can roll with the changes"

I hear "that you'd be speaking in riddles and you'd never confide" and at the end he says "Will I ever win?" rather than well i will win

I think it's "rolling river of truth" and "This notion may be naive but when push comes to shove"

"So hunt a seven" should be "It's a hundred seven" as in 107 degrees F
And I think the disciples are handing out catalogs of concubines, not actual concubines lol

Brandon Flowers – The Clock Was Tickin' Lyrics 15 years ago
This is what I hear:
"...bells and whistles, Jackie did not lack"
"And while Jackie bestowed the joys of fingerlickin'"

This song absolutely breaks my heart. "The house is quiet now..." part makes me cry every time I hear it. Even more sad is when them kissing as sixteen year olds is followed by the clock ticking.

It's kind of hard to imagine that it isn't about his mom. I'm pretty sure people called her Jeannie. Jackie Geronimo sounds an awful lot like Jeannie Barlow. I feel super creepy for knowing her maiden name. lol

I love the Better Homes & Gardens reference. My mom always had one of those in her hands when I was growing up.

All of the "long alleys" need to be changed to "Nogales"
"A feather of his life" should be "A Federales light"
"Not like his blessing of forgiveness" should be "I'd like his blessing forgiveness"
"Comical" should be "Prodigal"
"Mandalas" should be "mandas"
"As he runneth.." should be "Cause we'll runneth"
It should be "delivered from the depths of darkness"
"A felt them" should be "I felt them"
And I've seen "By fixing the carpets out of wood" on another site too, but I hear "I'm fixing to carve this out of wood"

You do realize the phrase that bothers you so much isn't in this song, right? lol It never says "between the crossfire," the word between is never used. It says "caught up in the crossfire of heaven and hell." Is that the lyric that bothers you?

I think its about an affair. Two people, at least one of them married, that want to be fully together but can't. Between Heaven (being with eachother) and hell (because what they're doing is so wrong)

I forget all about the storm outside
Dark clouds roll their way over town
Heart and pain came-ah pouring down - the song actually says heartache
Like hail, sleet and rain they're handing it out

The storm outside is the mess that they've made, but he forgets about it all when he's with her. Dark clouds rolling in is when the bottom falls out, their significant others find out and the ensuing storm is ugly & full of heartache & pain.

And when the hardest part is over we'll be here
And our dreams will break the boundaries of our fear
The boundaries of our fear

After they end it with their partners they'll finally be together. Their dreams about being together finally broke through all of the fears they had about leaving the marriages/relationships they weren't happy in.

"Lay your body down...Next to mine." is pretty obvious.

Also, the lyric is "His fiery arrows drew their bead in vain"
