if you look deeply into "crackerman" lyrics, you can clearly recognize element of "Oedipus complex" in wich the boy want to "kill" his father but because the father is stronger then him he has to become him (like him). I think bouth songs talk about a man's struggle to become a man and to create gender identity

this is STP's best song!!!
all of STP's closers have become classics among fans... atlanta, KW&CB, where the river goes and this song is no exception
i really dont think the verses has a true meaning ... i do agree with the fact that scott probaly wrote this song after being bored and just started throwing around words until he got the melody that he wanted
now the chorus
So the answer gets harder, harder - scotts been let down... hes accomplished his dream to finally become a rock musician but he gets no respect
And the truth's getting farther and farther - living life as a huge rockstar makes you forget about reality
And the bottle keeps churnin' and churnin' - as a rockstar all you do is get fucked up. drunk/high
Seven caged tigers fly - yes you are all right. scott was realy fucked up and saw 7 cats
tiny music could have sold so much more if scott had not been in jail and was able to tour the album more |

to me it sounds more like an abusive father who abuses his child/wife because HIS father abused him whenever he was younger |

this song isnt about screwing a girl in the woods... wtf??
anyways to me this song is very relaxing and laid back
it sounds like its about how scott weiland and his first wife were constantly fighting back and forth for a long time and now scott has gone away for a while and the song is reflecting on his relationship with his wife for whom he hasnt seen in a couple weeks and has gotten away from for a short amount of period and was all by himself just reflecting his thoughts
my opinion! |

Scott Weiland came up with the main riff to this song. To convey the riff to the rest of the band, he used his voice to approximate how he heard the guitar parts sounding a la Beavis and Butthead: Dat-dah, da-da-da-da-da...etc This was from a guitar magazine interview with Dean or Robert DeLeo.
