Modest Mouse – The Good Times Are Killing Me Lyrics 15 years ago

"Have one, have twenty more "one more"s and oh it does not relent "

I think this line is saying that he'll only 'have one more drink/hit' many more times that he intends to.

Like, when you're at a party, and you say "I'm only going to have one more drink" and that quickly turns into you getting drunk.

Modest Mouse – Bukowski Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the stanza about the Stereo is also an allusion to one of Bukowski's poems, "A Radio with Guts" in which he mentions throwing a Radio out a window, multiple times.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, and I find it ironic that people will see this reality, that is that civilian deaths are a necessary cost in today's society in order to create freedom and justice, but people hear even mention of the Holocaust and automatically deem it as 'evil'.

I'm not saying that I support the holocaust, but I just get angry that people fail to see that everyday, they witness, contribute to, or learn about a partial genocide, and fail to recognize it as such.

Hitler did the Holocaust, in order to build what he saw as a better nation.
American enslaved the Blacks, are committing genocides of sorts all over the world directly or indirectly, and keep many people oppressed all over the world due to their capitalist idealism, and they're the most powerful nation on earth.

Canada's no different, and neither is Brittan or Russia. For some reason, we as a society just don't acknowledge that.

lol

Lemme guess.

You're either American or Canadian, but you have Irish blood, that left Ireland 7 generations ago.

You know nothing. I'm willing to bet that you consider yourself a supporter of the IRA as well, without knowing a thing about them.

Slayer – Dead Skin Mask Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't know what 'dugged up' means, but his victims certainly weren't dead.

There were only two women, and he is the reason they died. They weren't already dead.

System of a Down – Darts Lyrics 15 years ago
I severely doubt that.

SOAD, and Serj, the main lyricist (though I am not sure if he wrote this one) are very leftist in their ideals.

That is to say that they aren't homophobes.

The only way what you said could be true, is if they were purposely being ironic in this song, but even then, they would of ended on a few lines making note of that.

System of a Down – The Metro (Berlin cover) Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is about a relationship ending, likely due in part to an unfaithful partner, and The Metro (a train) is a symbol for the relationship taking it's natural course.

The soldier is symbolic of his courage throughout the relationship, right up until he reads the break up letter, and the solder (his courage) leaves, resulting in his aforementioned suicide attempt.

Throughout the other parts of the song he is trying desperately to fix it, even though he clearly understands he is not in the wrong.

Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is not just about a failing relationship, but rather about a failing relationship, where both partners are aimlessly struggling to continue it, regardless of the fact it will no doubt end miserably.

All the lyrics reference toward an ending/failing relationship however lyrics such as:

"They both tell me that we're better than this

Because that's what I'm waiting for
That's what I'm waiting for
That's what I'm waiting for, aren't I?
That's what I'm waiting for
That's what I'm waiting for
That's what I'm waiting for, darling"

allude to the idea that the two are hoping that it will get better.
In the latter line, where it is stated "... and I'm very sorry... [Chorus]"
it is possibly showing that they are simply saying "I'm sorry, it's fixed, lets get back together."

Finally, at the end "... If one or the other did not exist... [Chorus]" saying that they are both understanding that it is over, but refuse to admit it, and hoping that the other would miss them if it were to end.

...

Just a thought.
