This pretty much seems to be a song directly about love. It is very true that there was a lot of love in the original groups of followers of Jesus, and that is the way it should be, but that is not what this song is talking about. It's a song about love between two people -- there is no need to attempt to further spiritualize it, as love between two people is a thing God takes very seriously. He gave us a song about it, for crying out loud lol. |

As far as I've seen, they don't seem to claim Christianity, although many of their members past and present went to Dante Alighieri Catholic Secondary up in Canada. As for the choice of language, as I assume is the reason for your post, colorful word choices do not necessarily negate belief in Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven. Some would argue that they do conflict as a matter of principle, but I would submit that they do not. It is just a word, to be used where appropriate like any other word; it is most often not appropriate, but in a context where no one will be offended it cannot be wrong, since the only prohibition on language (for the follower of Christ) is that our speech be not offensive to the hearer. The word itself is not wrong unless the hearer is offended. |
