Say Anything – Great Awakening Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song could mean multiple things. It could be that he is watching a girl fall asleep and wants to keep her awake. It could also be of a friend that has died, or even commited suicide. (As I watch you doze away/You slept through minutes and/hours and days/Your breath becomes quiet and still/So still) Like she's not going to wake up. (The world has sealed them shut) But he is doing anything to wish she could come back to life (The great awakening) Maybe she was afraid or fed up with the world, and killed herself (Until the world awakes as one/And no one will be afraid) The music is very loud and heavy in the "Here;s my lullaby" designed to wake someone up, instead of putting them to sleep. (Do you wanna be sung sleep/I prefer to slaughter the sheep/You count each night it seems/And waste a thousand dreams) He wants to kill whatever put her to sleep. This could also be someone that took too many sleeping pills, and eventually overdosed, causing him to want to "slaughter the sheep you count each night it seems". She "wasted a thousand dreams" This is my interpretation. Great song =]
