Real Estate – It's Real Lyrics 14 years ago
The lyrics are really straightforward: he falls in love, but is hesitant in the first verse as to whether or not it's a long term thing. In the second verse, he realizes that it's real, as far as he can see.

Now entering the 7th month of the best relationship I've ever had with my current girlfriend, this song really hits home. I remember falling in love so quickly but being so scared of the potential burnout. Coincidentally, I've never been more confident that it is built to last.

Love this track.

Death Cab for Cutie – The New Year Lyrics 15 years ago
Since it's the new year, I'll give this a shot:

I think many people are wrong about the "no distance that can hold us back" lines being about a romantic relationship. The song is consistently referring to more than one person ("clanking of crystal", "thirty dialogues bleed into one", the whole part about resolutions). Gibbard himself revealed that he spends so much time figuring out WHO to spend time with, that I think the "distance" is simply referring to his closest friends, and possibly family.

I know the overwhelming majority of this PERFECT album is about a relationship, but this song seems much more about his own alienation from society as a whole.

Arcade Fire – We Used to Wait Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow. I just went to check these lyrics and I think you're absolutely right. That is my FAVORITE poem - I can recite the first 40 or so lines from memory.

There is definitely a strong resemblance between the writing here with it's uncertainty and timidness.

I can't get enough of this group...good thing I'm seeing them at MSG tonight.

Panda Bear – Untitled 04 Lyrics 15 years ago
Definitely a great song, but the last word is clearly "playing", and not "crying"...
