This song is about being stoned by using drugs but also how using drugs reflecting on your real life. Lee Ranaldo here got Mote (effect caused by using drugs) and he's being "Spaced" - Stoned, having dejavu effects which bad reflecting on his life/personal problems. Sometimes it's hard to breathe when you take some drugs "I'm a airless. Vacuum child". "....fire burn... you actually love it" is classic feeling when you take drugs. You take drugs, suffer... but actually love that! Typically junkie's life style! But song is great! |

Yeah I think the same! It's abt God and super unnatural experience. At the beginning of song she's normal human being having small pleasures with her boyfriend or hub... whateva... and then she facing with some unnatural being/person which recommends her to put quarter into washing machine. It means: respect your human being and sexuality and be what you really are! An pure and honest human being. It's about real innocence in every man or woman for what they will be blessed and saved for Eternal life. Live your life. Respect yourself. Be a man or woman without fake pictures of self, without faking. Be happy in life and give yourself something to cheer you up! There's nothing wrong in it! That's my view of this amazing song. |

"the two people share a deep but forbidden love" - true! I like this song cause it's a love song but very confusing and strange... but lovers are so together and they think about each other even on far distances (that's the meaning of "pipeline" song title I guess really describes). I like the sound and harmony which is not typical for "love songs" but it is. It's a great love song! Love it! "Nothing is solid! Nothing can be held in my hands for long" - so true. My thoughts abt this songs or meaning is that song is about young people which wanna express their desire for finally good and happy living. Younger people often got life's obstacles for getting some little pleasures and comforts in life. They dream abt "feeling good" and staying on that heavenly place in their life dreams. "We gonna kill California girls".... and will have great time! - I would say! Song is beautiful and very, very imaginative or dreamy. |

I listening this song as a teenager (and English is not my native lang), listening so much this song I think that I'm very well understood the meaning of this amazing song. It's about Love. Love of two people, man and woman in deep shadow, in deep dark of our fails, mistakes, fears. With so much desire for love. It's abt needing love and to be loved. It's deeply erotic... and killers are not killers. They are need loving people and magnificent in dark. I imagined train listening this song and listening whole Evol ("Love" backwards) album. Later I saw music video of this song and I saw the train and girl in the dark and realized how I was "connected" with my one of favorite artists. This song is one of best love songs and whole that album is amazing. Beautiful! |
