I think your spot on man! If you hear really closely in the recording you can hear quiet sobbing...probably from Meg. Then supported by the Northern Lights version of it you can obviously see it has bearing on them both. I think, adding onto suzylee77's idea that its about how Jack was with Meg but then fell in love with Karen Elson so he was in two minds about both women. "The one i adore is a ghost." "And i promised i wouldn't lead her on." "I'm giving all up i know to get more." Also i think the songs is full of small literal references to things that happened in the lead up to the demise of Jack and Meg's relationship, like the finger massage, the photo montage |
