Well… I honestly think it's about death, and how it's so hard for you to realize that you have to give up at some point… And, maybe, how you wish you could've done things a better way, but you are just so small, just learning to crawl… to love. I've read what the band members said, and it's clear that through this song you can be connected to your childish side… the one that has to accept it can't be mature. One day… we're bound to let go. On the other hand, it can be about the person still being alive, but you can't connect to it anymore. You are giving up on him or her. He doesn't say 'Say something I will not give up on you' he does say 'Say something I AM giving up on you' I think this song is actually torn between EmotionxReason… he knows we can't wait forever, think about ourselves, move on, and it's a must to let go. Although he would have followed the one anywhere, if he could. It's not 'Anywhere I will follow you'. I took the liberty to notice those things… it's a quite different song. Like Sorry, I can't. I love you and that's why I'm saying goodbye, setting us both free. 'I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you'. :) I hope that movie If I Stay shows that side, the boy in love but feeling the need at some point to think about himself and his life. Really, it's truly romantic, but we can't close our eyes to the fact that another person can show up and make him feel alive again, though he won't want it. Actually, I already know the girl is gonna wake up, so… :p Sorry, but predictable. And if we see things in a mature way, of course it's the "right thing to happen", because she must let go of her family and move on, life is to be continued. It's really about her giving up on her parents, or the boy giving up on her! Interesting. I'm assuming her family will talk to her on the spiritual level and tell her she can move on, let them go. |

well, you pointed out a very important thing about the music video. I was going to make a comment alone, but I decided to use yours to put my several thoughts about this song here. almost everyone seems to understand that it's not just about a relationship, that it could be directed to anybody: fans, loved ones, society, haters, mom, dad, brother, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, lover, BFF, friends, people, dog and blablabla. just another person, and somehow you, noticed the fact that it could be about himself. other people too, but no one gave an idea similar to mine.. you got close. for me, it's like... a song that you could sing to yourself. its like you and yourself. you struggling of the self conflicts. i dont know if its because i feel totally this way about me, however i'm starting really to believe that this "you" of the lyrics is "me". you expecting too much of yourself. "Whataya want from me?" "I'm not perfect, remember that?" "Just slow it down, and don't give up on you" many ppl say that, "dont give up on you", "trust yourself", "be yourself" this song could pretty much be about that, don't you think? |

This song is so deep and with such a huge meaning that i dont dare myself to explain it or whatever lol and yet it's so simple... It's just Because, there's no explaination :) "Love is all, Love is you" Love can be the way you see it, but it just IS and we can do nothing about it, "you can't make it go away because it is the point of why we are here...." This line is from the movie "Lost and Delirious", if you really like the song i recommend you to see it ;) |
