To me, this song is about a lost opportunity to be with someone. Now that the opportunity is lost, it is too late to ever be with that person. The singer (Tina Dico) and the fellow had an opportunity to be together, but there was confusion and uncertainty at the time. Now that time has passed, hindsight is 20/20. He should know that he missed out, "No surface shines brighter, Than the light that burns beneath it." After time has passed, she encounters him, but he's changed. Instead of being with her, he chose another path that had left him weathered and worn, he lost his verve. She realizes she doesn't need him anymore. The space between the time they had a chance together, to the day she saw him again.. made them strangers, instead of lovers. |
