this song was my introduction to Gordon Lightfoot. Watched an old SNL from the 70s and he was the musical guest and performed this song. I was immediately taken away by its simplicity and beauty. The lyrics evoke a really special, romantic imagery and I feel like the song's meaning is pretty straightforward. Needless to say I will be exploring more of Lightfoot's catalog. |

this song is a little eerie, but in a dark, beautiful way like lots of other slowdive songs. this album marked a significant shift in sound for the band when it came out. Incredible to think that not even a year after Pygmalion's release came Mojave 3, which also was a completely different sound |

I think there's a line missing from the lyrics. In the last stanza right after "my heart, it just fell apart", Neil sings "by the sound of your voice" before 'and i wished I could show you...". Just thought I'd add that. Beautiful, tremendous song. Timeless |

Well said Numbus the Kitten. I too have absolutely no idea what the hell this song means. Yet I've listened to it non stop, hundreds of times, and still can't get over how amazingly beautiful this song is. One of the prettiest tunes I've ever heard in my life, and at 22 and having listened to a shit ton of music, that says a lot. |
