first off, i want to say that songs CAN be ambiguous. that being said, some of the scenarios or interpretations of this song can be correct. but just think about it in a political state of mind, maybe the singer is congradulating the "kid" on his ability to lie or deceive people into believing what he says(kinda like politics lol) and the singer is at a disadvantage because this kid is going about things through ways of lies and what not so that he can rise to the top. so the title "your gonna go far, kid" is like the singer admitting to the kid that he has mastered the art of lying and really will go far. unless the singer had anything to do about it: "If you can't get what you want Well it's all because of me" see what im saying?!?! and again, this is just another interpretation that adds up, im sure what you think is right too. *ambiguity* |

| if you want to make the song about a relationship, you could say its about how the relationship he had with lucy was ended, or killed because of the choices he made, or mistakes. the relationship couldve ended because he wanted another girl over her for w/e reasons, or maybe he was scared of commitment, or of course he couldve cheated on her or something. im just saying it could be taken that way too | |

| in short, he talks about how all girls are weeds, until he finds a flower, the girl he loves, or thinks he loves. he pulls the weed until it gives in, meaning he takes her for granted unintentionally and loses her. the chorus goes on to talk about how he longs for another chance with the girl he loves, or another girl that he loves. truely a beautiful song. | |

ok, well this song is definitely about how she has a crush on this guy. but the guy only looks at her and she wants to do more than just look. she wants to be in love with each other. but something is holding him back, it could be the rumors that he hears about her or all of the lies that his friends tell him. hence "They taped over your mouth Scribbled out the truth with their lies You little spies" everyone else pretty much explained the song, i just felt like i had to help some ppl out with this little part. |

| to me, the song is about how he has been betrayed by somebody, whether it be a friend or girl friend. the first stanza is about him feeling like his world is coming down on him; everything collapsing around him because of this person. but he loves this person, and wants to give them another chance, so he tells them to give him a reason to prove himself wrong of his views on his sinner, and to wash his memory clean of the wrong doing that was done to him. when he talks about the floods across the distance of their eyes, he wants to see some sort of remorse, he wants to see if the person is sorry for what they have done. it is a recurring theme, and i dont want to sound reduntant by spelling out the rest of the song... if you liked my interpretation, please email me. im interested in what you thought ~wherehowz@yahoo.com~ | |
