Don't know how I'm the first one to comment on yet another amazing from an incredibly amazing group but I'll take it. The lyrics here are incorrect. These are the correct lyrics: Help me sing All you weary strangers raise your voice In this chain gang chorus in our younger days My brothers, we were naive sailors Storms we all endure Oh the road, all you who sing her praises are dust and bones The places that she takes us, the choice was ours We wanted much more than our fathers While our mothers said their prayers Yeah, we're moving on up, to the east side We finally got a piece of the pie...of the pie Baby doll All you women of the travelers, your empty arms Your patient hearts in waiting, bless your hearts And your never ending patience I could not go on without you We're all the same All the blue and bright white collars, we're all the same Our troubles and our sorrows but underneath Is the blood and bony mixture Though we dance to different songs And your mama's all right Your daddy's all right They just seem a little bit weird...oh, surrender Every man, every woman with a burden raise your hands Raise 'em up to the firmament, see those hands Meet your brothers and your sisters, use your hands We are our father's sons Excellent song and one of my favorites. Brian's vocals throughout add so much more passion to the song. |

This is for all you morons who have jumped on the anti-Bush and anti-Iraq War over the last few years: Yes, this song, written in 1963, can be applied to the war in Iraq and sadly, all the other wars that will be fought in the future. However, the conflict in Iraq was much more justifiable than the Vietnam War. Although I do not agree with how the war was managed and carried out, it was very much needed. Saddam Hussein was a terrible and ruthless dictator. He allowed women to be beaten, raped, and tortured while allowing the men who committed these horrible acts, his sons in particular, to go free with any punishment. Further, Hussein used chemical weapons against his own people in order to defeat his enemies and stay in power. As I have stated before, I do not agree with how Bush got us into the war, by lying and saying Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, but he was justified in trying to bring Democracy to the Middle East and bringing down the Hussein regime. It may look like our efforts were in vain at the moment; however, I believe that twenty years from now we will see the fruits of removing Saddam from power and bringing Democracy to an unstable Middle East. |
