| Bob Dylan – It Ain't Me Babe Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This song isn't about love or about war. He was talking to all the people who were trying to make him the leader of a movement he wanted no part of. It was popular to be a rebel then, and they made him out to be their leader, but Bob wasn't all that "'rebellious" if anything he was rebelling against the rebels see the song "my back pages" where he talks about about pointing at the mongrel dogs who teach, fearing not id become my enemy at the moment that I preached" Bob wanted people to think for themselves and not judge others | |
| Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| You nailed it. This song has nothing to do with evolution or nature or a woman. He sees that the world is messed up and everyone is blind to it. They are marching into the sea. All the parts that he is talking about being mistreated "so salty and mean" is talking about being powerless to stop it. You get dismissed for pointing any of this out. | |

there are some mistakes here I come in from the wilderness a preacher boy to form not a word was spoke between us, there was NO risk involved nothing up to that point had even been resolved ill bargain for salvation IF you give me a lethal dose" this has nothing to do with the bible or the war. It is a popular misconception that Bob was really involved in the anti war stuff. He was anti war but he didnt want to be the spokesman he was made out to be which he discusses in the song "it aint me babe" This song is simply about a guy living in a crazy world, he is desperate and at his wit's end and the feeling that a great woman can give a man. Without even speaking (nothing up to that point had even been resolved) just being around her makes him forget the outside world. Just because he made some songs with religion as the theme doesnt mean ALL his songs are. |

| Modest Mouse – Satellite Skin Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think alot of people try and read too much into MM. half of their songs it seems people think are about drugs. BUT when they do reference drugs its usually direct (see "the good times are killing me" Point is Brock isn't as abstract as alot of people think. I think alot of MM fans make things more than they are because they are somehow like better fans, or they know MM like nobody else for some reason??? Anyway this song is about peoples feelings, satellite skin = sensitive feelings. He references people saying things and people listening several times. Pretty sure he is talking about pop culture and the digital age and how everybody "hears" learns of everything people say and how some people live and die off of what other people say and certain people can say what they want and get away with it (everyones waiting) refers to famous or popular figures. He also says something about the feeling that you aren't significant "you can say what you want and not mean it, when nobody seems to be listening" | |

| Bob Dylan – My Back Pages Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"in a soldiers stance I aimed my glance at the mongrel dogs who teach, fearing not id be my enemy the minute that i preached" Its about being a rebel and being a hypocrite. How people were rebelling against everything at that time but they were just saying the establishment was doing wrong etc.. when they were too. Bob wasn't the rebel alot of his fans wanted him to be |

| Bob Dylan – A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I read some of dylan's comments about this song. Most people thought he was talking about nukes etc.. thats what was going on around that time. It was also popular to think he was talking about pollution with "pellets of poison" but when asked he said "maybe its about the media and culture poisoning minds, telling people what to think" The song is about him talking to god. "what will ya do now my bue eyed son" then he talks about living "it" breathing "it" etc.. "it" being his message, his view of whats going on. Alot of people think Bob was all about rebellion and they looked at him to lead this revolution but thats not who he was, not what he wanted see the song "It aint me babe" another song most people don't get the point of. They think its about a girl and a break-up. He was talking to his fans, followers whatevere you want to call it |

| Modest Mouse – Night on the Sun Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Most song writers say whatever the song means to the listener, meaning it really doesnt matter what they meant, you are the one listening. I think sometimes people think too much into it. It doesn't seem like MM tries to hide what they are thinking I think night on the sun is about how pointless things can be. like: turning off the lights on the sun would be pointless. He also talks about getting filled up with his own blood, full of himself, "stab your blood into me" is saying something like he is wanting to see things from another point of view, he wonders if he is the only one who sees it like him. saying "you're hopelessly hopeless" cause you don't see what he is saying. Almost a misery likes company type of thing |
