Jezebel first (well, maybe not first..don't know) appeared in the bible. This is copied from wikipedia: Jezebel was the daughter of Ithobaal I of Sidon and the wife of Ahab, King of Israel, according to the Book of Kings of the Hebrew Bible (1 Kings 16:31). According to the Biblical narrative, Jezebel, along with her husband, instituted the worship of Baal and Asherah on a national scale. In addition, she violently purged the prophets of Yahweh from Israel, damaging the reputation of the Omride Dynasty. For these offences, the Omride Dynasty was annihilated, with Jezebel herself suffering the gruesome death of defenestration. |

I grew up deep south, but I don't have the accent anymore. We used to say that somebody "light in the loafers" was not very intelligent. Bob isn't weighed down by his brains, he might be missing a few cells. Not an imbecile, but not "book smart". He is just a good ol boy who likes to fish and not think about the world outside of the small pond or river that he hangs out at the edge. I have know quite a few Bobs. They fish; they farm; and like any good southern boy... love their momma's. |

I used to get chills at this guitar solo, I was just learning and could not believe that such a simple use of bent notes and sustain could bring such emotion. This solo and the frequent listening to Buck Dharma of BOC changed the way I played forever. |

I have a hard time believing that this [i] came [/i] from the Imaginos album (which is awesome, I am only debating the sourcing) since Boc published 11 albums (3 of them live) in between the two. It does fit nicely into the Imaginos album as do the 'subhuman' lyrics. Regarding the Metallica version; why does there have to be a war here? Both are good in their own way. Metallica turns it into more of a metal song with heavier guitar and I think that the secret treaties version is more of a 'storyline' as is the Imaginos version in a different manner. I also agree with the poster who stated that the cut from 'some enchanted evening' is a fabulous version with the guitar work being just phenomenal. The version of Godzilla is my favorite from that same album and the animals (?) cover of 'We gotta get out of this place' is also excellent. .....Some of the interpretations posted here; I can't argue with really since it is a bit subjective. I missed the Sirius reference even though I have been singing this song for 30yrs or so now (am I really that old?), its just a great song as are all of the early records, especially the first 3 imo of which Secret Treaties was the third. I did find some Stalk Forrest stuff a few years back on one of the sharing sites, unfortunately I think that it disappeared with comp upgrades. I might even of had some underbelly, but am unsure now as I can't remember if any was actually available. Demo stuff for both obviously, but you could see how they were beginning to gel. Be well |
