This album was my first introduction to Megadeth in 1990. To this day it remains one of my favorite albums of all time. Holy Wars is eloquently written with cutting hardcore Mustaine riffs. This album was the pinochle of their careers. This song really expressed the pure stupidity and hatred that exists in the supposed name of God. |

Funeraldancer you're a moron. It was based on a real life incident that occured in North Hollywood where two armed felons had a shootout with the police. The police had no affect because these maniacs were dressed in full body armor. These guys actually got the idea from the Michael Mann movie Heat starring Pacino, DeNiro. This is why people think metal heads are stupid. |

Never forget the news footage on this incident. Was watching the Discovery channel and they were doing a story on these nutjobs. Pretty sure they got the idea from the movie Heat or visa a versa. These two guys were scary and went into it knowing they'll probaly die. Think the one guy offed himself prior to SWAT taking down his partner. If you get a chance you have to check the footage, unbelievable and scary as hell. First time I heard the words I realized it was one and the same story. What they did was wrong yet these guys eptomized what it is to be a bad ass. If you can't view the footage watch Heat, happened basicly the same way. Mustaine you rock with subject matter on the lyrics. Saw these guys at Clash of the Titans and they opened for Judas Priest once. These guys are the real deal. It's bands like Megadeth that keep it real. Was dissappointed with Youthanasia, Cryptic Warnings and the other one that can't remember off hand, but after United Abominations and Endgame I see the old school coming back, accolades to you Mustaine. |

I personally dreamt of slaughtering people on numerous occassions. That wasn't the bad part, these were not disturbing or nightmares at all. We all habor sociopathic tendencies in our subconsciousness {spelling}. I think the song is brillant. When I first bought the CD I did not take that out of my car CD player for at least a month and a half. Old school Megadeth Rust In Peace style. That was the album that turned me onto Megadeth. Always prefered Mustaine's style over Metallica anyway. To me Dave is a real guy, perpetual sneer on his mug, can appreciate arrogance, only thing that gets you anywhere in this world. |

The song rocks stop trying to intellectualize the world. My take on the first time hearing the lyrics were of a person letting his loved ones left to not worry about him. My own father took his life 22 years ago and no note. If you want to take you're life you will suceed period. I imagine Dave's words are just what all of us feel in our hearts at times {In our Darkest Hour {mourning his buddy from Metallica}. Somebody like Dave would never attempt it, probably a cry for help. I myself contemplated the act but never could follow through with it, life is our gift so we must persavere. Ultimately people will believe what they prefer the truth to be. Whatever this is one of my favorite songs. |
