I thought the same thing when i heard the song. I didn't think it was so much about growing up as it was about the acquisition of knowledge in general... Centuries ago, when the masses still believed that stars had some heavenly connection, there was much less to worry about. He's wondering if where we are now is truly "better" than back then, all things considered. That could be interpreted as wishing you were young again, but i think it has a wider meaning than that. |

i was initially drawn to Dan Mangan by road regrets...but every song on the album is great. this song is outstanding. I can't disagree with the post above, but i do have to add that the overall theme seems to be rejecting, or at least vainly fighting, the aging process and the memory loss it brings with it. |

i just can't tell you how amazing this song is. it captures more of the human spirit without a single WORD than 90% of music out there. Also, whenever i hear this song i imagine different oceanic scenes...i'm thinking this is mostly because of the song title, but i'm not really sure. there's something definitely aquatic about this song. hahahaha |

| i completely agree with this. And as for the comments about this song being about a gay couple....even if this is true, there's no way of really proving it, and it doesn't matter. the message stays the same no matter the gender of the subjects.... | |
