First: The song to me, is a lament of homeless people...many of them, who wear a look on regret and quit on their faces, wishing for a mulligan. To the comments of Alter Bridges "Christian" stereo types..idk for sure but I'd go on a limb and say that they are NOT a professed Christian band. THAT said, regardless of their lyrics, that is the beauty of music and the whole purpose of this site. That is that to one person, who isn't "religious", it means something totally different than someone who is. AND the other beautiful thing about music is (at least for me)one could take the SAME song and it'll mean something TOTALLY different later in life that what it originally did. The same said for the Holy Bible...which is why a lot of THAT is in present tense. I'm looking to start a debate on either, just laying my opinion out there for contemplation. I am not posting to tell anyone how they should interpret either work, it will speak to you however you need/feel...just appreciate how it changes for you as you walk on in life. |

On the meaning, I believe it's about the realization of hitting bottom and looking back at how he got there, who helped him get there and who helped him climb back to the top, being grateful for realizing that he had to change and make hard choices. On the song: to date the best arraigned song they've put together yet. Mark's lead is just one of those that he could just make an instrumental out of and I could just listen to that all day. Harks of the days of Guns and Roses and great great guitar work w/o over killing it. So good. Definitely one of the most under-appreciated songs they've put out. |
