| OK, i heard maynard say in an interview, this song os about a TOOL fan who critisized him(maynard)for apparently losing his edge in his lyrical quality. He wrote this song as an angry response, sure it may not stay on that the whole song, but that is DEFFINETLY where it comes from. Maynard may or may not smoke pot, but he does not make a habit of overtly writing about drugs, although i realize some songs are references. Listen to the OPIATE album, at the begining of the live track, MATNARD says somethin like "yea, him, right there, get that Bob Marley looking wanna be motherfucker outtahere", so i doubt maynard is pro smoking up all the time. they were big fans of bill hicks who was a big promoter of hallucinogens. but as for the name of the song, it simpily is a shortened version of the pot calling the kettle black. | |

the lead singer is still around, has been active ever since this songs attention faded. and it is anti-drug, a hardcore addict can not stay productive for 15 years, i.e. layne staley, of AIC, at least twice totally stopped the bands touring. and capped the amount of creative time together as a band. and by the way, he died alone in his apartment, with a couple of crack pipes, a syringe, and other paraphenalia and drugs on the coffee table. a true addict almost always has to have severe help to stop using, K's choice's Sarah, is not a drug addict. btw, a pothead is really not an addict. |

instead of chained and broken, it is "betrayed and broken" and instead of with scarlett letters, it is "in scarlett letters" see, he carved "i dont want to be here anymore" in himself, the letters would be scarlett, blood color this song is about a suicide scene. around the time they were making this record, that kid Brad Renfroe, killed himself, he had a fresh tatto on his back that said "goodbye", i think tis song kinda came from hearing about this story. |
