Slint – For Dinner . . . Lyrics 14 years ago
It's weird. I used to think this song was a boring piece of filler, but it's actually become one of my favorite songs on the album, especially when put in context. After the emotional devastation of Washer, For Dinner is a relief, a gentle ebb and flow like the sea's tide, a moment of calm before Goodnight, Captain. It's peaceful yet bleakly sinister; it sounds a lot like the way depressive exhaustion feels, when you feel so low that there's almost a certain bliss in your helplessness and despair.

Slint – Nosferatu Man Lyrics 14 years ago
I don't really see any deep symbolism in the lyrics. I think they're mainly an attempt to recreate the eerie vibe of old silent black-and-white horror films, like (duh) Nosferatu. I definitely picture a silent movie going with this song. Someone should make one.

Failure – The Nurse Who Loved Me Lyrics 15 years ago
It always seemed clear to me that this song is about the narrator taking advantage of a nurse to get access to pharmaceutical drugs. The nurse is "falling hard" for the narrator; he can see that she really likes him, so he uses this to get her to score prescription drugs for him.

The verses, I think, talk about the addiction itself in a really oblique, metaphorical way.
